T-Rhyme‘s latest track is a good ol’ fashioned love song with rhymes that are an ode to the kind of love that lasts through thick and thin.
“’03 Til Infinity’ is an overdue love ballad about a beautiful struggle,” says Tara “T-Rhyme” Campbell of her latest single.
“I have a tendency to gravitate towards instrumentals and songs which make me feel some type of way.”
In this case, it was Roberta Flack‘s “Mr. Magic” sampled with instrumentals by Surebert. “I’ve always been a huge fan of Atmosphere, and I always felt like Slug was writing songs about my own experiences and feelings, but his perspective was from a male’s. So with the songs I write I wanted it to be from the female perspective instead.”
“’03 Til Infinity” is a track that – you might have guessed – is about her partner with whom she started off as friends with in 2003. “One of the first few songs I ever recorded was a love-hate song about him actually,” Tara laughs. “I’m pretty sure he still has it hidden somewhere. We’ve had our ups and downs and have been through a lot together from the beginning to our current domesticated life. But I sometimes feel I’m not the greatest at expressing my affection to him or often enough, so I wanted this song to be a gentle reminder of where we’ve been and how far we’ve come together. He’s my greatest inspiration really.”
